A Memorial service for Jan will be held at the First Church of Christ, 190 Court Street in Middletown, on Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m. Jan leaves behind her loving daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Adam Eggertsen, two beautiful grandchildren, Hoku and Marley, all of Talent, OR, and her brother, Roger Sedjo and his wife, Ruth, of Washington DC, her niece Rebecca, and nephew, Scott, other aunts and uncles, and countless friends. Jan was a world traveler, talented photographer, accomplished pianist, gifted gardener, and a treasured friend and family member. After retiring in 2004, Jan fulfilled her dream of returning to South East Asia where she had resided for a short time 30 years ago. She was enrolled in the docent’s program at The Wadsworth Atheneum at the time of her stroke. Never an extrovert, she and I were both happy with her small group of. Jan has always been active in the Middletown community, serving as a Board Member for the Children’s Daycare Cooperative, and later, for Oddfellow’s Playhouse, and as a Friend of the Wadsworth Mansion. During her life she had several absolutely treasured human and doggie friends. She was a Vice President and General Counsel for the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) until her retirement in 2004. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and attended the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was awarded her Juris Doctor degree with honors in 1984. It is licensed to serve children ages six weeks up to eleven years old. Jan was born on March 14, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to the late Andrew and Gertrude Sedjo. Just 139.
